We make good care better

"At the center of medicine there is always a human relationship between a patient and a doctor."

Balint Group Leader Education Fellowship

Unique - Experiential - Small Group - Patient Focused - Individualized

The Balint Group Leader Education Fellowship (BGLEF) is a special opportunity to work with a mentored small group of colleagues in a safe learning environment to expand your comfort zone as a health care professional treating complex patients/clients and their families. With only four Fellows per group, the BGLEF is a unique opportunity to combine didactic learning with real-time integration into your personal experience.

The Fellowship group meets monthly for 11 sessions and follows a structured syllabus which includes readings, exercises, and review of Balint Group recordings while being mentored by an experienced ABS Supervisor. The core of the experience is the review of video recordings which provides an incomparable opportunity for learning.

The Fellowship program is offered twice a year. The first session application deadline is January 15th with meetings starting in March. The second session application deadline is June 1st with meetings beginning in August.

The American Balint Society (ABS) seeks to increase inclusivity in its educational activities and among its membership. To support this goal, ABS offers financial aid to applicants of underrepresented groups (e.g. ethnic, socioeconomic, professional background, etc.) for whom the regular course tuition would present a hardship or barrier. The Balint Group Leader Education Fellowship Financial Aid program provides up to $500 of support to up to two individuals who have been accepted into the fellowship program.
