Vidush Athyal, MD

Vidush was born in India and moved to the US during his high school years. His education has taken him to different parts of the US and the world, but he is now settled in San Diego with his wife and three children. Currently, Vidush is as an attending physician and faculty member of the San Diego Kaiser Permanente Family Medicine Residency Program. He is also the Director of their Behavioral Medicine Program and Physician Director of the Kaiser International Travel Advisory Clinic.

His Balint experience includes two years of residency Balint, multiple ABS Leadership Training Intensives, and co-leadership of a residency Balint group (2014-present). He is also currently a two term member of the ABS Council and involved in multiple committees in the ABS. Vidush is a proponent of the ABS vision of encouraging relationships of trust and fostering empathy within medical providers, specifically the resident physician population. He is also looking forward to publishing more research showing the efficacy of Balint.

The American Balint Society
, is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to improving the therapeutic relationships between healing professionals and their clients/patients. The American Balint  Society is a member society of the International Balint Federation
