Santa Rosa, California, in the heart of the Sonoma County Wine Country in Northern California, has been selected as the site for the Spring 2010 Balint Leadership Training Intensive. The Intensive is designed to develop and enhance leadership skills and an understanding of the Balint Group process. Balint groups are a powerful experiential method of training physicians in therapeutic communication and effective use of the doctor-patient relationship. They have been used to teach a wide range of professional and interpersonal competencies throughout the United States and internationally.

Balint group leaders at all levels of experience are encouraged to attend. Those who are interested in leading groups, but have not yet begun to do so, are also welcome.

The Intensive focuses on techniques and theory of Balint Group process and leadership through practical and experiential learning opportunities. Small group sessions are led by two faculty members who are credentialed Balint leaders. Each session includes a Balint group followed by debriefing of group process and leader interventions. Participants have the opportunity to practice leading Balint groups, receive feedback on their leadership skills and ask questions about their local Balint groups and other topics.

Activities will begin at noon on Thursday and end at noon on Sunday. Registrants must be present for all sessions during the conference.
