  1. Join the American Balint Society
  2. Get an application for credentialing from the ABS website, Chair of the Credentialing Coordinating Committee or ABS Secretary
  3. Return the completed application to Chair of the Credentailing Coordinating Committee of the ABS
  4. The Credentialing Coordinating Committee will review the application and confirm Intensive Leader Training or supervision still needed to complete requirements
  5. If a supervisor is needed, the candidate may request one from among those on the list of approved supervisors available on the website or from the Coordinator of Supervision
  6. A signed supervision agreement must be registered with the Credentialing Coordinating Committee before supervision begins.
  7. When supervision is complete or a candidate is otherwise ready for their final credentialing Intensive as a candidate, s/he will be informed by the ABS via their supervisor or the Credentialing Coordinating Committee
  8. Upon successful completion of the final leadership Intensive, the candidate’s credentials are reviewed by the Credentialing Committee and a recommendation to credential the candidate or require more work is made to the ABS Council, whose vote is the final decision.
  9. Newly credentialed leaders are informed by the Credentialing Committee and a certificate is issued.
